Valley Ranch, Irving's Most Eco-friendly Residential Community

By S. Mathur

Valley Ranch is a planned community, built around a series of canals dating back to the 1980s. The canals were built for drainage and flood control, and became the nucleus of a residential community. With more than 4,000 homes and around 30,000 residents, 138 businesses and eight neighborhood centers, Valley Ranch is not exactly your average small town.

"Valley Ranch is a thriving, mature master-planned community known for it's miles of scenic canals and walkways", says Lifestyle Director LaWanda Brannon. "When visiting 'the Ranch', it's easy to join in with avid runners and cyclists that enjoy the accessible trail ways, enjoy an array of outdoor community events, or simply grab a quiet moment in the local library. Once of my personal favorites about the Valley Ranch community, is the warmth and friendliness of the residents. People are excited to be here!"

Part of the reason that Valley Ranch is such an attractive place to live is that it is an eco-friendly community. Annual community celebrations include signature events such as EARTHfest with a Ladybug Release (ladybugs are natural pest control), and Recycling Day for materials that can't be included in everyday recycling. The community's newsletter also includes gardening advice on ground cover alternatives to lawns and on pulling up weeds by hand rather than using toxic chemicals.

In terms of convenience, Valley Ranch has a number of stores and wide selection of eateries, says Brannon. "Valley Ranch's dining scene caters to every palate from vibrant Indian cuisine to savory Italian fare and business services include automotive, pharmacy, and personal services such as dry-cleaners, to name a few."

CCMC has the dual purpose of managing the community and looking after the people who live here, says Brannon. "For nearly 25 years, CCMC has been the managing agent for the Valley Ranch Homeowners Association. Our mission is to provide the highest level of service, contract oversight, and support to the Board of Directors and residents. Because of CCMC's innovative approach to community management, we are certain that we have only just scratched the surface of discovering all that this community is capable to become. Valley Ranch's future is bright, and we want to be a part of it."

With events like Popsicle Parade, Candy Trail and Dogs' Day Out, the community continues to remain kid and pet friendly. Wine tastings, gardening classes, and workshops on holiday crafts combine entertainment with community and learning. Future plans for the Valley Ranch community include more classes, and many other various programs.

"Within the last year, an integral component to how residents experience Valley Ranch was added, known as the lifestyle team. In addition, more than 15 community programs, events, and classes have been added over the years. The 2016 event calendar is slated to nearly double the number of special events the residents and surrounding community can enjoy!"
