Top Plumbing Issues and How Best to Avoid Them: An Interview with Charles Ononogbu of Best Quality Plumbing

By Charles Ononogbu

Tell us a little about your company and the services you offer.

Our company name is Best Quality Plumbing. This is a family-owned and operated plumbing company. We are licensed and bonded. We have over 23 years' experience in Residential/Commercial plumbing. Our services include installation/repairs/remodeling, emergency service 24/7, water heater installation/repairs, sinks/faucets installation/repairs, tubs/showers, toilets/disposals, drain cleaning, sewer line installation/repairs, slab leak repairs, and gas line installation/repairs.

What is the most common plumbing issue that you've seen in Texas homes?

The most common plumbing issue we have seen in Texas homes is the use of inferior/cheap plumbing materials.

How can homeowners and residents help prevent this from happening?

Homeowners and residents can help prevent this by inviting experienced master plumbers like us, to recommend to the Builders/General Contractors the best quality materials needed for their homes and put the agreement in writing.

Can you share if there any plumbing problems that can be avoided with proper use and maintenance?

A number of plumbing problems could be avoided by preventive maintenance. For instance, shower cartridges and faucet cartridges could last longer if the homeowners and residents have a 6 month preventive maintenance program.

What do most people not know about their faucets that they should know?

Most people do not know that their faucets need preventive maintenance just as you have preventive maintenance for your car. Water heaters need preventive maintenance to prevent build-up of sediments and thereby prolong the life of the water heaters.

What advice would you give someone who has a plumbing emergency and needs to get professional help fast?

If homeowners and residents have a plumbing emergency, they should first shut-off the water source or the gas source before seeking a professional help. Many homeowners and residents do not know the first line of action in case of an emergency before seeking professional help. They need to invite a professional to give them orientation on how to locate and shut-off water lines and gas lines in an emergency before seeking a professional help.
