Sugar Bee Sweets Shares How to Plan Parties That Take The Cake

By Allison Wilson

Nothing personalizes a special celebration quite like a custom dessert. Sugar Bee Sweets, a bakery as Southern and as charming as its name suggests, helps the people of Arlington make their occasions even more special with personalized cakes, cupcakes, cake balls, cookies and pies.

"What better way to bring a smile to people's face than with a sweet and thoughtful treat?" says Sugar Bee Sweets Owner Heidi Allison. "We specialize in anything from an elaborate, seven-tier wedding cake to a dozen cupcakes for a small shower. Since we are a custom bakery, we are only limited by your imagination when it comes to what we can do."

Sugar Bee Sweets' cakes and cupcakes come in nearly 30 flavor and filling combinations, including unique options like almond cake with peach amaretto filling and pumpkin spice cake with cream cheese filling, and, of course, the classics like vanilla cake with vanilla or chocolate buttercream filling. For toppings the bakery offers iced buttercream and rolled fondant, and customers can include elements such as 3D characters and detailed sugar flowers. Cake pops and cake balls come in 22 different flavors, such as snickers, German chocolate and salted caramel, and pies and mini pies are available in traditional favorites like pecan, apple, cherry, blackberry, pumpkin, peach and chocolate.

Allison says Sugar Bee Sweets is a standout vendor when it comes to designing wedding cakes because it's a small, family-run business that values friendliness and attention to detail. If a bride falls in love with a design she has seen on Pinterest or any other wedding planning website, Sugar Bee will take her inspiration and customize it for her personally. But not every bride wants to start designing her dream cake alone, and Harrell and his team are happy to help her design her cake for her perfect wedding day however she envisions it. Sugar Bee also specializes in groom cakes.

"About 50 percent of our brides book groom cakes as well," Allison says. "Groom cakes are a great way to incorporate the personality of the groom in his own special way at the wedding. Lately, we have seen a trend of taking a college mascot and adding it to the cake along with details personal to the couple! Some fun ones we have done recently include beer tubs, a Ducati logo cake, Texas shaped cakes and an Aggie Ring."
