Satisfying Your Appetite for Americana

Frank's Americana Revival in Houston celebrates both traditional and contemporary American cuisine. With made-from scratch dishes like the award-winning chicken fried steak, and nightly specials such as Nana's Meatloaf with Bacon Tomato Jam, its menu represents Chef Colin Shine's forward-thinking interpretation of American dishes with histories from around the world. Recalling a traditional neighborhood diner, the mid-century modern and rustic décor mirrors the refined comfort of the food.

"We are widely known for our fried chicken, which is only served at dinner," says Frank's Owner Michael Shine. "However, many speak openly about our nightly features such as Beef Stroganoff and Chicken Pot Pie. We serve American food with a bit of culinary soul and always use the freshest ingredients from the local Farmers Market and from our exceptional suppliers."

These suppliers include Atkinsons Farms, Dilorio Farms, Wood Chuck Farms and Forberg Farms. A carry-out and catering menu are also available at Frank's, along with an impressive wine list (170 wines with by-the-glass and bottle selections) and a cocktail menu at the adjoining White Star Bar. The White Star Bar offers happy hour prices from 4 until 7 p.m. Monday through Friday.

A common question Michael Shine hears from Frank's American Revival diners is, "Who is Frank?"

"Well, actually there are two Franks, both members of the now very large Shine Clan worldwide," he says. "The restaurant name and brand are a loving nod to both of them- my great-grandfather Francis 'Frank' Shine, the patriarch of the Limerick County, and Frank 'Father Frank' Shine, my beloved uncle, a very special personality and man of the cloth. Frances sent two of his sons, Tom and Michael, to America in the early 19th century, and the American Shines were born- living, loving and prospering in both the Kansas City and Dallas metro areas."

Frank's American Revival is located at 3736 Westheimer Road and is open Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Saturday from 5 to 10 p.m.; and Sunday from 5 to 9 p.m. For reservations call 713-572-8600.
