Putting the Focus Back on the Game at Waterchase Golf Club

By Elisha Neubauer

When it comes to a focus on golf, Waterchase Golf Club in Fort Worth, Texas, seems to know what they're doing. They've honed their efforts into providing the best quality golf for the buck, giving customers exactly what they want from a Golf Club- an excellent game of Golf. Offering both daily fee entrances and annual pass memberships, Waterchase Golf Club gives flexibility to those who play the course, as well as offering a quality layout, superior course conditions, and a genuine, service-oriented approach that Fort Worth residents appreciate.

"Golf Courses are like fingerprints- there are no two alike in the world," says Jason Heitschmidt, General Manager of Waterchase Golf Club. "Each is unique in its design, layout, conditioning, topography, length, and location. Whether it be a 50 yard par 3 or a 600+ yard par 5, every hole is different and every golf course is one of a kind." And Waterchase is no different, with each and every hole being distinctly unique. The course provides long and short holes, straight holes and doglegs, tree-lined holes and wide open holes. Six sets of tee boxes offer even greater diversity and options for guests looking to add an even greater challenge. "Add superior course conditions to the variety of holes, and Waterchase is a truly unique golfing experience unlike any in the metroplex or state," boasts Heitschmidt.

Diverse course aside, Waterchase Golf Club stands apart from their competitors for another reason entirely; one unexpected of such a prestigious Golf Club. "Waterchase Golf Club does not have a large clubhouse, or pool, or exercise facility, or tennis courts," Heitschmidt tells us. This, while unusual for a Golf Club, keeps costs low and attentions directly focused on the course. "By keeping overhead low, our attention and resources are continually focused on the golf course and the golfer's experience," he says.

When we asked Heitschmidt what draws people to the specific courses, he had an unusual perspective for us. "One of the essential elements of golf is FUN," he affirmed. "It is recreation that can be enjoyed from life's earliest stages through the Golden Age of retirement. Golf courses (and players) need to recognize that it is not all about "shooting par", it is about enjoying the great outdoors, being engaged and active, camaraderie with friends and family, and if you are lucky, a few (or maybe only one or two) brilliant shots."

Another factor, Heitschmidt tells us, is that golf courses need to provide their guests an option to play the course at a level akin to their skill. "Waterchase assists in this by offering six sets of tees," he details. "By selecting the correct tee box, golfers can play the course at a length that is consistent with their skill level and enjoy their round more."

Waterchase Golf Club not only focuses on the game but on the golfers, having finely tuned combining fun with Texas hospitality, a hard feat for a well-known Golf Club. "Golf has a long standing reputation of pretentiousness and stuffiness," Heitschmidt maintains. "But in Fort Worth, where a hard day's work and a handshake still mean something, we have the opportunity to dismantle golf's old, stoic reputation and make it about fun and fellowship- that's how the friendly folks in Fort Worth like it."
