Premier Golf Memberships Available at The University of Texas Golf Club

By Elisha Neubauer

Located in Austin, Texas, the University of Texas Golf Club is home to the 2012 NCAA Men's Golf National Champions and has been called the best private country club in the state. In addition to University golfers, this exclusive golf club maintains a limited number of members, making it a coveted gem in the golfing industry.

Boasting a superior course, state-of-the art tennis facilities, prime practice facilities, and other fantastic Club amenities, the University of Texas Golf Club has put Austin on the map for those who enjoy the game.

While every course is unique, the course at the University of Texas Golf Club was meticulously tailored to the terrain. "For many years, Bechtol Russell Golf studied the layout of the land, and with the input of many of UT's greatest ex-golfers, designed and built a golf course that encompasses the beauty of Steiner Ranch," explains Amanda Acreman, Director of Membership/Marketing.

This Par 71, 7,412 yard championship caliber course combines a top of the line golfing experience with the tradition of excellence that the University of Texas has been known to deliver. "We have elevated the standards of exemplary golf, premier junior golf programs, memorable dining experiences and quality family entertainment," states Acreman.

Although donning the name of the local University, the Club is actually a privately funded institution. "The University of Texas Golf Club is funded privately, yet exclusively licensed by The University of Texas," Acreman details.

"We serve as the permanent home for the Men's and Women's golf teams for The University of Texas and are the official indoor home to the UT Men's and Women's Varsity tennis teams." Acreman went on to explain that the Tennis Club (the Edgar O. and Melanie A. Weller Tennis Center and the Whaling/Snyder courts) are, in fact, owned by the University, but are completely managed and operated by the UT Golf Club. "It is used as a private tennis club when not hosting the UT teams," she tells us.

Aside from the golf course and tennis courts, there are plenty of other amenities that have helped to earn the Club such a prestigious reputation. The complex includes an open-air 3,400 square-foot pavilion, a 16,000 square foot clubhouse with sophisticated dining areas, Golf Shop, locker rooms and extravagant bar areas.

There is a state of the art fitness center that is home to cardio equipment, weight training capabilities, flat screen tv's, and a wide variety of specialized training paraphernalia. And let's not forget the resort-style swimming pool- recently added in 2013. "The University of Texas Golf Club is a club that caters to the select few who choose to have outstanding amenities," states Acreman. "It's summer fun for the whole family!"
