Nicola's Ristorante Italiano is Plano's award-winning, authentic Italian restaurant. Diners can expect top-notch, handmade pasta and sauces made on-site. Pick a romantic, curtained nook, sip on a glass of wine at the bar, or people-watch on the patio.
The Ristorante first opened in the Galleria shopping mall. After ten successful years, the owners decided to expand to the Shops at Legacy and it has continued to thrive. According to David Wood, the Senior VP of Sales and Marketing, Nicola's has won several awards, including "Absolute Favorite Restaurant," "Most Romantic Restaurant," and "Best Italian" by subscribers to the Plano Profile.
Each entrée at Nicola's is made from scratch. Wood says that Chef Ryan Nagby "uses centuries old recipes handed down in the old country for generations." The pasta is handmade at the restaurant, sauces are made in-house, and the bread is baked in a wood-burning oven. Grocery deliveries are even made twice per day to ensure fresh ingredients. Nothing is frozen - except the gelato!
Couples or friends can start with zuppe or antipasti, such as the Granchio con Avocado with jumbo lump crab, avocado, capers, shallots, and parsnip puree. Guests can then move on to a Primi entrée, such as the seafood lovers' Pescatore: a delicious combination of bucatini pasta, fish, shrimp, calamari, clams, and mussels all tossed in a zesty tomato sauce. Of course, no Italian meal is complete without the vino, and Nicola's list is extensive, offering sparkling wines, whites, and reds to complement the meal.
Whether diners are in search of a delicious wine, a romantic dinner, or a friendly lunch with a view, Nicola's aims to please.
