Meet Dallas's Most Dynamic Culinary Duo at Shinsei Restaurant

By Elisha Neubauer

When Lynae Fearing and Tracy Moore Rathbun took over the space which was once Yamaguchi's, they knew they were about to change their lives forever. Of course, it wasn't just their daily lives that received an overhaul; the space was completely renovated, updated, and redesigned.

While in this process of rejuvenating their surroundings, it came time to settle on a name for their freshly designed eatery. The restaurant meant a new start for the women, and that's exactly what they named it: Shinsei, the Japanese word for pure, rebirth, and transformation.

When it came to picking a menu, there was no doubt about what the pair were looking for. "Pan Asian takes in flavors and cuisines from all over Asia: Japan, Korea, Thailand, et cetera," explains Fearing, Co-Owner of Shinsei Restaurant.

"Energetic, fun, delicious, fresh, and friendly." Their eclectic menu includes pairings like Thai Fried Rice with a Farm Fresh Egg, Citrus Braised Short Ribs, and Oooey Gooey BBQ Chicken. Rivaling the dinner menu is the dessert options: Pot du Crème, created with delicious Godiva Chocolate; Banana Parfait, complete with ginger snaps; and Shinsei Cotton Candy. "Our most popular dishes are the Thai Fried Rice, the Brussel Sprouts and the Katina Crispy Rice and Tuna," states Fearing.

The restaurant recently celebrated its tenth anniversary, proving that a fresh take on Asian cuisine is exactly what the Dallas area wanted. "Celebrating our tenth anniversary means that we have been able to provide a restaurant where people feel comfortable and feel that they are very important to us," Fearing told us.

When asked what she felt contributed to the success of the restaurant, she stated, "I think we have been able to achieve this through our amazing team. I think that we have done a good job and making people feel special because we actually care about what they want and we make an effort to remember special dates and we take time to really get to know them."

Whether you're a regular or just stopping through, Shinsei restaurant aims to make your meal experience feel warm and inviting. "Customers say they love the food foremost, the consistency of the members of our team and they love that either Tracy or myself are there every night."
