Lifestyle Frisco Celebrates All the City Has to Offer

By Kelly Church

As a suburb of Dallas, Frisco, TX is often overlooked, but Lifestyle Frisco is working to change that. The online publication is a one-stop-shop for all things Frisco: events, restaurants, activities, shopping, health and real estate. Co-founder and publisher of Lifestyle Frisco, V. Scott Ellis, says the publication is just part of Frisco coming into its own.

"The city of Frisco has gone to great lengths to ensure Frisco develops as a stand-alone community as opposed to just another suburb of Dallas," says Ellis. "Our mission is to shed as much light on Frisco as possible. We want to be a resource for the people who live here but also for those that are moving, or considering moving, to Frisco."

Ellis considers Frisco a "mecca" for sports, new jobs and nationally ranked schools. The city has gym opportunities, including a new 56,000 square-foot soccer facility, and regularly scheduled 5K runs for members of the community. Additionally, for sports fans, the Roughriders baseball team is native to Frisco and the Texas Legends basketball team and FC Dallas Soccer team reside in the city.

As far as economic development is concerned, the city has seen enormous growth in recent years, partly due to the 5 Billion Dollar Mile, a new one-mile stretch of the city with four mixed-use developments, more than a $5 billion investment for the city. The initiative is estimated to bring more than 70,000 jobs to Frisco.

"Frisco has been one of the fastest growing cities in the country every year since 2000 and for good reasons," Ellis says. "[However], one of my personal favorite aspects of Frisco is that despite all the growth, you still get a small town feel. Visiting the shops and restaurants along Main Street in old downtown Frisco reminds of the history of the town and adds character that you just can't fake."

Downtown Frisco is a watering-hole for residents looking for a local event. Before every weekend, Lifestyle Frisco does a Frisco Events Weekend RoundUp, listing all the major events happening around town for that weekend.

Nearly every Friday, Saturday and Sunday is jam-packed with musical events, marathons or festivals commemorating national holidays and local celebrations. Music in The Square is a favorite, as well are Christmas in the Square, Frisco Freedom Fest and the Frisco Arts Fair. The city is pulling their weight in order to keep the community occupied and having fun, leaving nothing to be desired from the bigger, cliché neighboring city destinations.

"So far we've been able to drive substantial foot traffic to many local businesses, bring awareness to volunteer opportunities, spread the word about election issues, and as a media outlet, support the great causes that are here in Frisco," says Ellis.
