Lessons, Lakes and Fundraisers on a Scenic Course at Luna Vista

By Elizabeth R. Elstien

The city of Dallas has a new full service golf facility, Luna Vista Golf Course that's way above par. It's readily located in Northwest Dallas between Love Field and DFW Airport. In 2012, the former LB Houston Golf Course was transformed into the Luna Vista Golf Course. A full regulation facility which is challenging for the expert golfer yet enjoyable for the beginner as well. PGA Golf Professional Mickey Piersall says of the course, "It's a scenic property with large trees, lakes, white sand bunkers and undulating greens."

Luna Vista has affordable pricing with special deals for junior and senior players. You can even conveniently book a round of golf online. Golfers of all ages can partake of its Golf Shop where their professional staff will do a club fitting or find apparel to enhance your game.

Need to lessen your strokes to play below par? Both group and individual lessons are given by a Luna Vista's staff of PGA teaching professions for those new to the game, as well as the more experienced players. "Highlighting the academy is an indoor hitting bay including video, launch monitor, Ping, Titleist and Callaway club fitting. The practice facility at the Academy offers a driving range with a large grass tee, short-game practice area including a practice bunker and putting green."

Luna Vista supports veterans on Labor Day as part of the nationwide Patriot Golf Day where all golfers pay $1 extra to go to this fundraiser for the nonprofit Folds of Honor Foundation. This foundation has worked since 2007 to provide educational support to families of American fallen and wounded soldiers. Interested in raising funds for charity? The staff is available to help you plan and coordinate a tournament for optimum success.

The city is a golfing haven. Piersall states, "Dallas offers year-round weather for golf and a tremendous golfing history with great public course. Many professional golfers call Dallas home including Hall of Fame member Lee Trevino and current sensation Jordan Speith."

After playing 18 holes, have a beer and some good eats at the bar and grill and really take in the scenery, as Luna Vista has incredible visual appeal. "It challenges the expert player, say Piersall, "while allowing the novice the opportunity to enjoy playing and learning the game."
