Looking for a good, wood-grilled burger in Texas? Kenny's Burger Joint brings flare to the food scene in Plano and Frisco. Kenny Bowers, owner, says the Joint was born from the urge to expand on the great burgers offered at his restaurant, Kenny's Wood Fired Grill. He says, "We had so many people tell us that our burgers at KWFG were the best, so we took their advice and opened one up."
The menu offers a variety of wood-grilled hamburgers, steaks, and fish. Hamburgers are served up on soft bread that soaks in the juices of the burger. Kenny's also has some specialities like the Steak Bomb, which is a philly cheesesteak with ribeye, onions, and white American cheese. If you're really hungry, you can order an appetizer, like the famous Loaded Cheese Fries, with cheddar, jalapeno, bacon, chives, and ranch dressing.
Bowers' advice on what makes a great burger? "If you are going to make a great burger, it has to start from within!" he exclaims. "You must truly love them! A high fat content in the meat, an all-natural wood burning grill, plenty of salt and pepper..."
Bowers is no beginner to the trade. He is also part-owner of Kenny's Italian Kitchen, Kenny's Smoke House, and the already-mentioned Kenny's Wood Fired Grill. Kenny's Burger Joint is a more casual experience that highlights the beauty of a robust burger filled with great ingredients and toppings.
The Joint's half-pound burgers are made by hand and cooked over hickory wood, giving them a distinctive hickory taste. Bowers tells us that the buns are baked at La Spiga bakery in Addison, TX - and come in daily. Cheese comes a little farther afield, from American cheese meccas like Vermont and Wisconsin. And a good burger has some fresh vegetables, too. "We garnish our burgers with the freshest produce including jumbo beef steak tomatoes, Italian super sweet red onions and crisp California lettuce - all delivered daily by the La Barba family at Freshpoint produce company," says Bowers.
It's clear that Bowers has put a lot of thought into the burgers at Kenny's Burger Joint. Fortunately, all you have to do is order one - and take a enjoy!
