Thirty minutes from Dallas you will find one of the fastest growing cities in America: Frisco, Texas. Settled in the midst of this urban area is Frisco Square. The Square is a 147-acre development of office, retail, and family space, including residences and museums. Social Media, Marketing & Community Manager, Lara Hansen, says, "When I came to Frisco Square 9 years ago, there were just a couple of buildings, City Hall, and Toyota Stadium across the street. Even then, it felt like a community within a community. We were welcoming new small businesses to the Square, new residents to The Plaza Apartments, and had just held our first Christmas in the Square. It was a fun place to be and experience!"
Nine years later, Frisco Square includes the Cinemark Next Gen-XD Theater, POParella's Gourmet Popcorn, Treats and Dimples Cupcake Factory, En Fuego Tobacco Shop, eSpiritu Fine Wine, Ale & Spirits, and many more businesses. For the explorer, there is the Frisco Library, Heritage Village and Museum, Frisco Arts Discovery Center and Black Box Theater, Sci-Tech Discovery Center, and soon the Museum of the American Railroad.
The Frisco Square website refers to the area as "a town within a town." There is an atmosphere of family living and nightlife, eateries and shopping, entertainment and education. Hansen and others devote their efforts to enriching their city and Frisco Square by hosting annual events, as well as other, smaller events throughout the year.
Hansen explains, "The Frisco Square Property Owners Association hosts 4 events each year for the community - Arts in the Square, Music in the Square, Trick or Treat the Square, and Christmas in the Square. Christmas in the Square is still my favorite - this year will mark the 11th year! It's an event that brings the community together and draws visitors in from all over - it's a special event for us and we're honored that it has become a Holiday tradition for some!"
Each event has grown throughout the years and have even become traditions for the community. Christmas in the Square has become the third largest event in North Texas! Each year the event draws over half a million people.
On Saturdays, Music in the Square hosts several genres and musicians to entertain passersby and residents. During the Arts in the Square, visitors can enjoy the work of local and regional artists and musicians. The proceeds go towards the Frisco Education Foundation and Frisco Family Services.
The Square also hosts Trick or Treat in the Square, and the Farmers' Market. There is even a parade that the square supports that is hosted by the city of Frisco. There is a little something for everyone in Frisco Square.
