Fostering the Love of Golf at The Mesquite Golf Club

By Elisha Neubauer

Just off Interstate 30 in Mesquite, Texas is the spectacular and affordable 154-acre Mesquite Golf Club. The Mesquite Golf Club has carved out its own niche in the golfing community by providing a home to avid golfers who truly play for the love of the game.

The Mesquite Golf Club is a four hour, 18-hole public course that welcomes golfers of all ages and experience levels. Although they have been a favorite spot of many professional golfers over the past 50 years, tournaments are not a priority or a motivation for them.

"Because of the exceptional value of the Mesquite Golf Club, tournaments are not our focus," explains Jessica Larson, Marketing Specialist for the Mesquite Golf Club. "Mesquite fosters the love of golf with the community by partnering with the Mesquite Senior and Ladies Golf Associations as well as The First Tee of Greater Dallas to help promote golfing among all ages and demographics."

The partnership with The First Tee of Greater Dallas provides young people with character-building and life skills lessons using golf as the platform. The program is available to child ages seven to seventeen for $40 per session. However, full and partial scholarships are available upon request. Equipment is available for the golfers to utilize during the program.

Despite having been deemed the best value in golf, Larson assures us that there is no sacrifice in quality when playing at Mesquite.

"Your experience is not compromised by the lack in expense," Larson explains.

In fact, she proceeded to tells us that the Club underwent a 2 million dollar renovation in 2014 and has since gone on to win the title, Golf Course of the Year. Some improvements include the creation of three new holes, expanded tee boxes, champion Bermuda greens and native grass in the rough. The Pro-shop and Clubhouse underwent renovation as well.

Additional benefits available to golfers of the Mesquite Golf Club include an on-site bar and grill, cost effective memberships and a Pro-shop in which golfers can purchase clubs, attire and accessories.

"Refreshments are available to make the golf experience complete," says Larson. "Hot dogs, hamburgers, sandwiches and your favorite snacks are available during golf course hours."

Those with memberships enjoy unlimited greens and golf cart fees, unlimited range balls and use of all practice facilities, such as the driving range, putting green and chipping area.

"For the last 50 years this course has welcomed youth to professional golfers," Larson states, and she doesn't see that trend coming to an end any time soon.
