What is one of the biggest regrets that first-time homebuyers have about home loans?

First time home buyer loan regrets could be jumping on the first bank that offers a loan. It is a good idea to get at least two lenders to choose to work with. Some internet company lenders might not work well with a buyer who needs a little more personal attention and a lender that knows the market they are doing loans in is another helpful aspect.

What would you recommend that first-time homebuyers should do to prepare for buying a house?

First step is always get approved with a lender before going out to look at homes. Nothing is worse than getting hopes up on houses that might be out of the price range you need to be in. It can be disappointing looking at homes that are too high.

How important is it to know what price range you can afford? How can people calculate what that is?

Always contact a lender to make sure what price range to stay within, The calculations on some of the websites that sell homes are not calculating to anyone's specific financial situation and is always a really rough estimate.

What are a few of the most common mistakes you've seen first-time homebuyers make when it comes to the mortgage process?

The most common mistakes would be not finding out all the costs of the loan up front. Some lenders charge more than others for services provided.

Do you have any tips to help first-time homebuyers in Texas get the best loan terms?

Yes, work with an experienced agent and knowledgeable lender to get the best deal.
