When it comes to floral arrangements and event design, Branching Out Events is taking the cake for bringing life and texture to special events in Dallas, TX. Owner Debby Jewesson earned her way into the Dallas design world after the desire to work in a creative industry led her to a career change. The former physical education teacher and volleyball coach hit the ground running in 2000, knocking on doors and cold-calling, looking for an opportunity to explore her interest in working with flowers. Her first job: sweeping floors and processing flowers.
"I started from the bottom and jumped at any and all opportunities to learn more about the business," Jewesson says. "Eventually, I got to trade in the broom handle for the clippers and once I became a design assistant I realized how much I loved it. Over several years, I had the opportunity to train with some of the most talented designers in the DFW area."
Jewesson never stopped climbing the floral design ladder. After only nine years of working in the industry, Jewesson opened Branching Out Events. Since 2009, the company has taken weddings, company and social events to the next level by bringing life to the event with stunning floral arrangements. Jewesson sees Branching Out Events as an extension of herself, as she experiences growth in her skills, her business and employees experience growth as well.
"Every client is different and each event is different," Jewesson says. "I like being stretched by a new design challenge or project but also by the skills required to train staff and to continue to grow in healthy ways. Working with my team is something I really enjoy."
Don't let the company's casual attire fool you- Branching Out Events employees take their jobs very seriously. Jewesson feels responsible for the overall look and feel of each event she partners with. Each flower acts as a representation of the event and the client's taste, personality and vision. One of the ways they do that is to be approachable and down to earth, letting them get to know their clients on a personal level.
"We believe in Southern hospitality and our office is warm and cozy and our dogs are there so it helps people relax and just talk about what they like and don't like and let their personalities shine through," Jewesson says. "We don't shy away fro talking about budget and their goals. That way we can guide them where to focus to have the most impact. I think that is something our clients really appreciate."
With Branching Out Events, clients don't have to worry about a thing on event day. The company takes care of everything including delivery, set up, lighting of candles and clean up at the end of the event. Jewesson herself is very hands on with the company's clients, their flowers, arrangements, linens and the presentation as a whole. She calls herself the primary designer and has no intention of changing that in the future, taking events from start to finish with the expertise and creativity that built Branching Out Events.
