And a Good Time was Had by All at EinStein's Pub

By S. Mathur

EinStein's Pub is a local favorite in Katy, TX, a family pub with live music and great food. Linda Megan, Owner of Einstein's Pub, describes the atmosphere as cozy: "We are family-owned and used "pub" in our name to create an expectation of what we hoped was a warm and cozy place with visit with your friends and family.

Back in 1996, we were less than half the size we are today, expats mingled with the locals, bands were acoustic and genre varied. I believe we had one T.V. The bar changed and expanded with the clientele." The clientele continues to be varied, and defies easy classification, including as it does many different age groups and professions. The common factor seems to be that everyone has a wonderful time.

The pub is best known for its draft beers, says Megan: "We've always taken pride in our beer selection and offer 25 different drafts (with a number of them rotating for seasonal or new beers), and more varieties in bottles. I'd say nearly half of the draft comes from Texas breweries, currently including Katy's own No Label, Houston's Karbach, St. Arnold's, and Town in City, Conroe's Southern Star, Shiner's Spoetzl, and Austin's No Label, 512 and Live Oak. We believe strongly in supporting our local and surrounding communities and businesses; it's what Katy's about!"

It's also the live music that keeps people coming back for more, and Megan says that "EinStein's has the best in live R&R/alternative music on Friday nights, karaoke and DJ/VJ on other nights." Regular bands include local Houston groups: Adrenaline playing rock, Fal Skye with rock, reggae, and hip hop, and indie rock from Infinity's Twin.

There are also pool tables in the back, dart boards, Golden Tee golf machines and more new games are on the way. A popular favorite is a beautiful new pinball machine and a multi-player games-console with a huge screen. Sports nights are special at Einstein's Pub and games are on several large screens throughout the pub. There is a back bar to handle the extra traffic. There are also regular weekly Team Trivia and Karaoke nights.

Rounding out the essentials for a favorite bar: delicious food, check. Friendly and talented bartender, check. The food is a major attraction, and you begin to see why, when Megan lists the menu and bar highlights: "The kitchen is open all day and offers delicious hamburgers, a very popular ribeye dinner, pizzas we assemble upon order, and much more.

We've been here for 19 years, with the friendliest and most professional bartenders around. We'd love to welcome everyone to come in for one of the timeless greats, such as Guiness, or for Karbach's newest, Mother-in-Lager. A customer favorite right now is the deceptively light, but very potent Not Your Father's Root Beer."
