A Love of Movement Starts Early in Life at inBalance

By Jake Levin

Hope Cowgill Pedraza comes equipped with a plethora of credentials at inBalance, her workout studio located in San Antonio, Texas. In addition to being its founder and owner, she's a BASI Certified Comprehensive Pilates Instructor, a NASM Certified Personal Trainer and a NAFC Nutrition Coach.

With such an impressive résumé, it's hard to argue with her stance that inBalance is more than just a studio; it's a community.

"I created the space for people that would not only promote a love of movement, but would also feel like home for my members," Pedraza said. "I wanted people to leave classes feeling empowered and strong and also loved and valued."

Per the company's mission statement, Pedraza wants people to fall in love with sustainable movement. It'd be hard not to at inBalance, where a myriad of programs are available for clientele of all ages. Yoga, Pilates, interval cardio, dance cardio and inBalance's signature barre classes are among the items on the agenda.

The classes are on the smaller side, Pedraza said, in part to ensure the maximum amount of attention is paid to each individual student. Instructors are trained to know their client's injury history, restrictions and limitations to ensure each student achieves optimal results.

"Classes at inBalance rely on a range of methods to take you out of your comfort zone, strengthen your body, and improve flexibility and balance, with a focus on a fun approach to movement," Pedraza said. "Classes, all led by experienced experts in their field, have been created to connect the mind and body, so you forget how hard you are actually working."

InBalance has the feel of a family affair, because Pedraza believes that a love of physical activity starts early in life. She said that she wants adults to feel comfortable bringing their children and teenagers to the studio so that they may find a love of movement, body awareness and self-confidence.

"Our kids and teen dance classes are for all ages and skill levels and provide the opportunity to build a healthy love of movement that lasts a lifetime," Pedraza said.
